Cyclist charged with impaired, no helmet 0
COLLINGWOOD - A 52-year-old man faces several charges after police say they pulled over an impaired cyclist, Saturday night.
Police say an officer on patrol spotted the cyclist - operating a power-assisted bike - riding in a suspicious manner. When the officer got the cyclist to stop, it was determined the rider had been drinking.
The cyclist also wasn't wearing a bike helmet, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act which requires the operator of a power-assist bicycle to wear a helmet, regardless of the age of the individual.
The rider was also charged with having a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit while operating a motor vehicle, and having open liquor in a public place. His first court day is May 24.
