COLLINGWOOD - The brother of a man found murdered in his Kitzbuhl Crescent home last week was killed, Friday, after the vehicle he was in collided head-on with a tractor trailer.

Adam Rogers' death throws yet another twist into the investigation of last week's murders of Michael Dean Rogers and his wife, Kathryn. According to sources contacted by officers involved in the investigation, and who have spoken with QMI on condition of anonymity, 48-year-old Adam Rogers of Barrie was a 'person of interest' in the case.

On Friday night, two days after the discovery of the bodies, a vehicle driven by Rogers heading westbound on Hwy. 26 west of Barrie crossed the centreline, straight into the path of an eastbound tractor trailer. The driver of the tractor trailer escaped with minor injuries, while Rogers was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are reports that last week, police secured Adam Rogers' locker at Alliston's Honda plant; police also searched through dumpsters at the plant.

On Wednesday, the OPP's Underwater Search and Rescue Unit was in the area as part of the investigation; officers from across several units have also been pulled into the investigation.

The Central Region Technical Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is investigating Friday's collision.

Little is known about husband and wife, and police have been tightlipped about the investigation - including how the couple died, and when they may have been killed.

Police have been "investigating literally around the clock" since finding the bodies last Wednesday, OPP spokesman Sgt. Peter Leon said Tuesday.

But Leon would say no more concerning the case. Officers remain at the scene for what Leon called a "very detailed and complex investigation.

"With all due respect, I think we owe them the confidence and the dignity to do the job which they've been tasked to do," Leon said in an interview with QMI on Tuesday.

"Although it has been just shy of a week, I will say that it's still very much in the early stages as far as investigative procedures go. And I don't want to speak out of turn and compromise the integrity of the work that's been done this far."

On June 6, the bodies of Michael and Kathy Rogers were found inside their home. Police have said they initially responded to a missing person complaint that day, and by 2:30 p.m., had discovered the bodies in their home.

The coroner has confirmed the cause of death involved foul play.

Police have made no arrests and are still calling on the public to provide tips, Leon confirmed.

So far, little has easily been learned about Michael, 56, or his wife Kathryn, 55. He was the manager of homeowner services at Blue Mountain Resort for about two-and-a-half years.

The resort's village accommodations are privately-owned and resort staff rent them out on the owners' behalf. Visitors come to Blue Mountain for its attractions and to walk around the shops and restaurants in the village, which has been built in the past 10 years at the base of the mountain.

Rogers had "an upbeat personality" in a job which called on him to serve the private property owners/investors at Blue. "Michael had relationships with those homeowners under that structure. He managed any changes or updates to the properties," said resort spokesperson Collin Matanowitsch said.

"He was a private person," said Matanowitsch, who wasn't even sure if Rogers was a skier. Asked if Rogers has children, Matanowitsch declined to comment on "anything outside of work-related."

"He was a great colleague. Very well liked around the resort," and grief counselling has been offered to his colleagues. There has been no service for him.

"It's obviously shocking to everybody here . . . it's obviously under tragic circumstances, we don't know what those are yet." He declined to say if it was someone from Blue Mountain Resort who called police to report Rogers missing.

What is known is Michael Rogers was one of four children born to Dean and Joanne Rogers. Dean Rogers died in February, 2010; six grandchildren are listed in the obituary for Dean Rogers, though it isn't known whether any were the children of Michael and Kathryn.

Michael Rogers' parents had been living in a seniors' home in the Collingwood area, though Dean Rogers died at Guelph General Hospital.

Kathryn was raised in Sault Ste. Marie, attending Korah Collegiate. On a local website, comments described her as the "absolute kindest, most caring, gentle person", and a "kind person with a smile that could light up a room."
