Fire ban extended throughout several towns in Simcoe County 0
Several towns in Simcoe County are currently under a fire ban until there is a significant rainfall.
Clearview Township had already issued an Open Air Burning Ban yesterday, and the ban has now been extended to more towns in Simcoe County including Collingwood. Wasaga Beach is not on the list.
With the long-term forecast predicting high temperatures and dry conditions, the Fire Danger Rating is in the high to extreme levels.
Outdoor burning is prohibited and all issued fire permits are void until the ban is lifted.
Residents will be notified if the ban is lifted or extended through public service announcements.
Monday afternoon, Collingwood Fire Department were called to the west-end for a grass fire.
The fire affected approximately two acres and the Collingwood Fire Department had assistance from the Clearview Fire Department in putting out the blaze.
Collingwood fire department chief Trent Elyea says the fire was caused by fireworks.
