Boundary changes proposed for Simcoe-Grey 0

SIMCOE-GREY — The eastern portion of Simcoe-Grey — including Elmvale and Midhurst — would be lopped off and merged into a new riding known as Barrie North, based on a mapping released by Elections Canada, Monday.

The riding would also lose The Blue Mountains to a larger Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound riding, under changes that are a result of electoral redistribution.

Ontario presently has 106 seats; redistribution would give the province 121. According to a Toronto newspaper, an Elections Canada spokesperson said the map was posted in advance of the official release for technical reasons, to ensure it functioned properly.

However, Simcoe Grey would also take in a piece of Dufferin County to a point just east of Shelburne, with the boundary along Highway 89.
