COLLINGWOOD – Anyone who knows the family of Josh Noronha, were shaken to hear of his catastrophic trampoline accident.

One family friend, Sid Dickerson owner of the Gayety Historic Theatre knew that they was going to need some help with the family's needs include support for accommodations, meals, travel and parking for the immediate family and a list of medical assistance devices and therapies.

“I know the family very well. The accident was unbelievable; I follow the blog that Josh’s mom does daily, and wow devastating,” said Dickerson. “So I have Mike McDonald, probably one of Canada’s best-known comedians coming to the Gayety Theatre and the whole evening is a fundraiser.”

The fundraiser is this Friday evening and includes door prizes and a silent auction.

Legendary comedian Mike MacDonald has appeared on many TV shows including Late Night with David Letterman, The Arsenio Hall Show, and Just For Laughs. He has also written and starred in three nominated and critically acclaimed CBC/Showtime specials of his own: Mike MacDonald; On Target; My House! My Rules; and Happy As I Can Be. He has hosted both the Gemini Awards and the “Just For Laughs 10th Anniversary Special” for the CBC and starred in a sitcom on that network called “Mosquito Lake.”

“He has lived through health difficulties himself and he has himself back on track so we have a great night of entertainment,” says Dickerson. “ I talked with McDonald’s promoter and he knows what the evening is about. I am giving the theatre for free. I booked three entertainers a couple of months ago before this happened and I thought after this accident that it would be a perfect way to try and help Josh.”

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with tickets $35 available online at the gayetythatre.com or next door to the theatre at the Body Bar.
