Siskins still undefeated
The Stayner Siskins remain one of only two undefeated teams in the Provincial Junior Hockey League following weekend action.
On Saturday, the Stayner Siskins travelled to Schomberg to take on the Cougars and came away with a 3-1 win, with two goals from Midhurst native Ben Hughes and another from Lucac Jeffery.
The Glanbrook Rangers, who play in the South Conference’s Bloomfield Division, also sport a 19-0 record.
On Sunday, the Alliston Hornets, who sit six points back of the Siskins in the North Conference’s Carruthers Division with a 16-4 record, blasted the Huntsville Otters, 8-1, while the Caledon Golden Hawks defeated the Midland Flyers, 8-3. The Penetang Kings went into Orillia and handed the hometown Terriers a 6-3 defeat.
Meanwhile, up in Penetang, the Kings faced the Huntsville Otters and treated their fans to a 5-2 victory.
In Friday night’s action, the Orillia Terriers dropped a 7-3 decision to the Midland Flyers, while the Alliston Hornets squeezed past the Schomberg Cougars with a 5-4 overtime win thanks to a Ben Beausaert marker 1:23 into extra time. The Huntsville Otters doubled up the Penetang Kings, 6-3.
The Siskins host the Kings (7-7-0-2) on Thursday night.
