WOOD THIEVES CAUGHT

WASAGA BEACH -- Huronia West OPP arrested a 25-year-old North York man and a 26-year-old from Richmond Hill for stealing bags of firewood on Sunday in Wasaga Beach.

One man was seen by officers acting suspicious in his car parked at the Esso gas station on Main Street, and when he was followed and stopped nearby, OPP found him in possession of several bags of stolen wood from the station.

They were charged with possession of stolen property and will appear in Collingwood court in January.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

WASAGA BEACH --An 18-year-old man faces several charges after Huronia West OPP officers responded to a domestic violence call on Saturday.

According to police, a man kicked in the door of a residence and demanded to see his child. He was later located by police and arrested.

The man has been charged with forcible entry, mischief, and three counts of failing to comply with conditions. His first court appearance was Sunday in Newmarket.

SAFETY TIPS WHILE SHOPPING THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

COLLINGWOOD -- With the Holiday Season quickly approaching, stores and parking lots will have an increase flow of shoppers on a mission. Unfortunately this can also provide a very prosperous opportunity for thieves, say the Collingwood OPP.

The public is reminded of some safety tips while out in the shops, malls and parking lots this holiday season.

* Carry a minimum amount of cash on your person;

* Park in a well lit area of the parking lot;

* When using your convenience card do not expose your PIN number;

* Do not put your purse in a shopping cart. Keep your purse close to your body and zipped closed at all times. Never leave your purse unattended;

* Do not leave purchased items unattended;

* Try not to overload yourself with parcels so that it is difficult to walk or to carry them;

* When going to your vehicle in a parking lot keep a hold of your purse, be sure to walk directly to your vehicle with keys in hand so you are able to unlock your vehicle quickly and be aware of your surroundings and people in your vicinity;

* When at your vehicle do not leave your purse on the seat of your car or in the cart while you load groceries or parcels, keep a hold of your purse;

* Be sure to place parcels in the trunk of your car out of sight; and,

* Lock your vehicle;

If using public transit be sure you have all your parcels before you leave the vehicle.

LISLE WOMAN CHARGED AFTER CRASH

CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP-- Huronia West OPP have charged a 53-year-old Lisle woman after a single-vehicle crash on the Sunnidale/Tosorontio townline, Sunday night.

According to police, when officers arrived they determined the driver appeared to have been drinking.

The woman's first court appearance is Jan. 12.

IMPAIRED CHARGES FOR CLEARVIEW MAN

SPRINGWATER -- A 19-year-old Clearview man has been charged after a single-car crash on George Johnston Road, early Saturday morning.

According to Huronia West OPP, when officers arrived it was evident the driver of the vehicle had been drinking.

The man's first court appearance is Dec. 21 in Barrie.
