Siskins get a little revenge against Hornets

CLEARVIEW TWP. - The Stayner Siskins pocket first place in the Carruthers North Division of the Provincial Junior Hockey League with Thursday night’s 6-3 victory over their No. 1 rival the Alliston Hornets.

Siskins take inter-division game

CLEARVIEW TWP. — The Stayner Siskins travelled on a bus without air conditioning but their smiles were as wide as the sweltering September sun on the way home as the team defeated the Wingham Ironmen 9-2 in the first cross-over game between the two north divisions.

Dave Dawson/The Packet & Times Orillia forward Ben Schryer managed to get in behind the Stayner defence and got a Grade A scoring opportunity that was foiled by Siskins goalie Zach Levac. Moments later, Schryer scored to give the Terriers a short-lived 1-0 advantage. Stayner cruised to a 14-1 win over the Terriers in a Wednesday night contest at Rotary Place.

Terriers fall to Siskins

There was a moment, with six minutes left in the second period, that aptly summarized the very short season, to date, for the Subaru of Orillia Terriers. While on a power play, the sloppy Terriers surrendered a two-on-one that ended in another goal for Stayner and further deepened the hole the home side found themselves in.
