On Monday June 13, the local branch of the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) welcomed members of the Collingwood Rotary out to the Collingwood Regional Airport to participate in the Annual Copa for Kids event. Every year the members volunteer their time and aircraft to introduce aviation to youth.

“Our kids had a blast” said Rotary participant Mike Ready. “What a great experience for them!” Twenty children aged 9 to 18 attended a brief ground school, hosted by David Gascoine, President of Genesis Flight Centre, before taking flight over the Collingwood/Wasaga Beach area. Three aircraft participated in the event. A Diamond DA40 courtesy of Genesis Flight Centre and Captain Bryan Fauquier. A Cessna 177 Cardinal, owned by the Collingwood Flying Club and piloted by Club member, George Daniels. And a Ryan Navion, piloted by local Copa members, Sasha Balogovic and Louis Cunningham.
